Adoption
Trying to win with the unspoken rules
working it all out whatever it takes,
hopefully finding the various clues
testing by trial making all the mistakes
Child of a heartbeat lessons to learn
learning the hard way someone to find,
each gain possibility, someone to earn
some spark harsh reality, some are too kind.
Enduring real hardship while having the blues
searching and finding if someone sees moves
singing and living and paying cold dues
hurting and crying right down to your shoes.
Thankfully laughing, trying hard not to fake.
Deep inside you're alone with love is
what love makes
And money's not love you can give all you rake,
moreover with time you are noting
the aches
Finding the worst is better than finding nothing at all
When will the law sealing adoption records fall?
Then suddenly two pair of eyes meet
a vision of the past and a furtive memory,
and everything is different from head to feet
evoking perception and heartfelt sensitivity
Nature nurture whats the answer?
When you find dividing lines,
will I have heart disease?
maybe cancer,
see open records read the times
Trying not to be invasive
when considering the family jewels,
that trust is suddenly pervasive
and love is certainly on cue
Walking alone where there are no options
finding birthrights is the key to adoption
